Question by Scott G: What wedding jewelry should my bride wear?

My bride to be’s grandmother has a necklace she really wants her to wear. However she doesn’t actually like the necklace her grandmother is offering, and wants to borrow a necklace from my mother (who has offered to lend her jewelry). She is upset about upsetting her grandmother but would prefer not to wear that necklace. (i don’t have pictures of any of the necklaces.)
Any thoughts?

Best answer:

Answer by SChi25
The bride should wear what she’s more comfortable in. She can’t forget that the necklace will live on in the wedding photos forever. Does she really want to look back on them and say, “I wish I had just put my feelings aside and wore my mother’s jewelery.”

She can ask her grandmother if maybe she can wear the necklace for the rehearsal dinner, but that she would like to wear her mother’s jewelery the day of the wedding because it’s more her style. The grandmother should understand.

Question by Kate: How does a Catholic wedding given by a Deacon differ from one given by a priest?

My fiancee and I are having a terrible time trying to schedule our wedding- the priest doesn’t have time to marry us until next June!

The church offered the services of the permanent deacon to perform our wedding. I’ve never been to a Catholic wedding performed by a deacon- how would it be different? Is it still a sacramental marriage? Obviously it cannot be a full Mass, but can we still share the Eucharist with our guests?

Best answer:

Answer by Godshammmmmgod
In my experience, you should be able to have another priest fill in. If you want to have a priest present at your wedding. I believe he would need to obtain the permission from the pastor at the parish where you plan on being married.

Good luck and congratulations!

Question by Wyatt’s mama: What is the proper way to bathe and groom a German Shepherd and a pit bull?

They are in need of a bath and both smell, well, like a dog! I don’t want to waste their bath by doing it improperly and them come out smelling just as bad. So what is the proper way to bathe and groom them? How long should I spend shampooing/ rinsing? Should I repeat? Any tips?
And no, I don’t want to take them to the groomers, I would like to save my cash and do it myself. Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by EYE BYTE
I wash my pit in the rub. I wash him twice. Its to cold to wash him outside. They have doggie collegne you can buy in pet stores like Petco. Because you cant wash them every day, try that. Also, If you have children and they use that tub for bathing, it is IMPERATIVE that you scrub out the tub before using it for your children. Good Luck!!!!

Question by Madeline: How can I turn my wedding dress into a creative keepsake?

I’m looking to create a beautiful keepsake out of my wedding dress. Does anyone have any good ideas, or patterns? I’ve thought about maybe a pillow, but that seems a little common.
Please help.

Best answer:

Answer by Kacky
You could buy a doll and have a dress made for the doll out of your dress.

Some people will have the dress cut into Christening outfits if they think they might have their future children baptized.

You could cut pieces of the fabric and lace and have them framed like a picture, or in a shadow box with your wedding picture.

You could make fabric flowers out of the material and turn it into a bouquet and put that in a shadow box or under a dome.

.

Question by lmb: Where can I get a bridesmaid dress altered in Milwaukee?

I am looking for a good seamstress/tailor in the Milwaukee area. I need to get a bridesmaid dress totally altered (and I mean drastically – I suspect it will need to be taken apart and put back together) and I am not sure where to go. Thanks for the help!

Answer by oar1963
check out bridal stores, cloth stores like joanne’s, and dry cleaners. they all have people that work there or advertise. sometimes tailors at like, the men’s warehouse or places will know of someone too! look under alterations in the yellow pages of your phone book if all else fails! and is there a coordinator for the wedding? they should have a number or two!
